Langtang Valley Trek - 8 Days Detailed Itinerary

Day 1

Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi by jeep / bus (1460m./4790ft. ), Distance: 117km / 72 miles, 6-7 hrs walk)

Our adventure journey begins with drive to Syabrubesi, along the north western hill of Kathmandu. Enjoy the scintillating nature, village and town, Himalayan views and mountain lifestyle while passing through rivers, terraced fields and rustic villages. Lunch at Trishuli Bazaar and on passing through Dhunche (1,960m), we descent down to Syabrubesi to spend a night today.

Day 2

Trek from Syabrubeshi to Lama Hotel ( 2,400m / 7,874 ft ), Distance: 11km / 6 miles, 6-7 hrs walk.

After an early breakfast, we start our first day of trekking. From Syabrubesi, the trail follows the Bhote Kosi and Langtang Rivers. On the way, cross several suspension bridges,  and pass through lush woodlands, terraced fields, and the dense oak forests of Langtang National Park. From Rimche(2,400 m), we walk through dense bamboo forests where we may spot rare wildlife like the red panda too. We stop in Bamboo (1,970m) for lunch. We trek a couple of hours more to make it to Lama Hotel.

Day 3

Trek from Lama Hotel to Langtang Village ( 3,430m / 11,253 ft ), Distance: 14km / 8 miles, 6-7 hrs walk.

Our morning tea is followed by a steady climb up along a dense forest and through the villages. Today we leave the tree line behind and get to appreciate the invitation of Nepalese Himalayas with open heart. In front, Mt. Langtang Lirung (7,227m) seems marvelous. Gradually, the trail climbs through tall trees and widens out at GhodaTabela- a stunning viewpoint where we rest and register our permits. We hike through Chyamki, where we see prayer wheels, mani walls, and chortens that provide a spiritual touch before getting to beautiful Langtang village.

Day 4

Trek from Langtang Village to Kyanjin Gompa (3870m./12696ft.), Distance: 6.8 km./4.2miles, 3 - 4 hrs walk.

Today is an easy day. We make short trek with slight uphill and downhill. We will pass by many small plateaus, biggest Mani wall in Nepal and yak postures. Since, it is really a high altitude, take your time to walk slowly and acclimatize your body. Kyanjin Gompa is another wonderful land of Langtang surrounded by Himalayas.

Day 5

Acclimatization day: Hike to Tserko Ri (4984m./ 16347ft.) or Kyanjin Ri (4773m./15655ft.), Distance: 3km / 1 miles, 3-4 hrs walk.

In the early morning, we'll set out after breakfast, carrying our packed lunch as we hike toward Tserko Ri/Kyanjin Ri. Upon reaching the summit of Tserko Ri/Kyanjin Ri, we'll be treated to a breathtaking 360-degree panorama of snow-capped mountains such as LangtangLirung, DorjeLakpa, Ganesh Himal, and distant peaks like Shishapangma. After savoring the view, we'll return to Kyanjin Gompa.  You will be visiting the monastery or strolling through the charming Kyanjin village after some rest. Overnight in Kyanjin Gompa. Duration: 3-4 hours

Day 6

Trek back to Rimche (2455m./8053ft., Distance: 22km./13.6 miles, 7 - 8 hrs walk)

Today, you will walk for about 7- 8 hours from Kyanjin Gompa to Rimche. We will retrace the forested path where we have the opportunity to come across wildlife like red pandas, Danphe, and Himalayan Tar. Eventually, we will reach Rimche after several ups and downs, crossing various suspension bridges, etc. Stay overnight in Rimche.

Day 7

Trek back from Rimche to Syabrubesi (1460m./4790ft., Distance: 11km.|6.9miles, 5 - 6 hrs walk )

After breakfast, you'll continue walking downhill to Bamboo Village. From there, you'll proceed to Domen, where the construction of a hydro dam is underway. Along the trails, you will eventually reach Syabrubesi, where you'll spend our last night before going back to kathmandu.

Day 8

Today is the final day of our trek. After breakfast, you bid farewell to the stunning Langtang trek, making wonderful memories. You will catch a jeep / bus around 7:00 am for the journey back to kathmandu. Enjoying the scenic views as you return to the bustling city, which would take about 6-7 hours.

Essential Information

Food and Accommodation During Langtang Valley Trek

There are many tea houses and lodges available during the Langtang Valley Trek. Accommodaiton will be basic mountain lodge on twin-sharing basis. You have to share the toilets as well in many tea houses en route. However, Kathmandu accommodation will be standard hotel basis with bed and breakfast basis. 

Breakfast will be served at kathmandu hotel and for lunch and dinner will be excluded but you can have good food around thamel like Yala Cafe. During the trekking, we serve you fresh local food such as Dal Bhat and seasonal vegetables, momo, noddles soup. we will get pizza, fried rice, tea, coffee, and soup on their menu. Just pick your right and fresh food in himalaya.

Best Time for Langtang Valley Trek

Autumn (September, October, and November) and Spring (March, April and May) are the most popular seasons for trekking to Langtang Valley. During this two major season we can see beautiful landscapes, low precipitation, smaller wind speed which is chill weather, and clear views of the mountains. Winter (December, January, February) and summers (June, July, and August) have their own advantages but its low season for trekking to Langtang Valley.

Langtang Valley Trek difficulty

Langtang Valley trek is moderately trekking in Nepal. You can complete the Langtang valley trek quite easily. The low altitude gains in this trek and the short trekking time makes this trek a moderately difficult trek in langtang region.The altitude you will gain in Langtang Valley Trek is also quite low compare to other high altitude trekking in Nepal as well as the trekking trails are also safe and easy to trek.

Each day we will be walking for about 5-6 hours and duragion of this trek is 8 day kathmandu to kathmandu. The trek starts an altitude of 1326 meters from kathmandu and takes you to the highest altitude of 3870 meters in Kyanjin Gompa. During the optional hike, you can also hike to to Kyanjin Ri (4350 meters) view point.
