Annapurna Round and Tilicho lake trek start from kathmandu to Dharapani drive via Bensishar and the trek proceeds to the Thorong La pass via Manang. We have modified this route as it is basically the same as Annapurna Circuit, from Manang instead of taking the valley north to Tanki Manang and Yak Kharka this route goes to the main valley to the west passes through the Khangsar Village (The Last Village of Nepal) and trek up to Tilicho lake, then we trek back to Yak Kharka then up to pass of Thorong La at elevation of 5416 m. From the pass of Thorong La, the Tilicho Lake trekking lead down to Muktinath then to Jomsom. We take a jeep ride to Tatopani where we experience nature hot spring. We trek from Tatopani to Gorepani route and end our trek in Nayapul. 

What to expect in Annapurna Circuit with Tilicho Lake lake and Thorong La Pass ?

Annapurna Circuit with Tilicho Lake trek is a challenging adventure that requires stamina and physical fitness. The daily hike can range from 4-7 hours, including breaks to admire the breathtaking views of the mountains. The trek involves long uphill climbs, steep descents, and flat trails. Although past hiking experience can be advantageous, technical skills are unnecessary for this trek. Anyone who can hike 5 to 6 hours a day can complete the trek, but do not forget that hiking at higher altitudes can be more physically demanding than hiking at lower altitudes.

Regular exercise and jogging for a few weeks before the trip can enhance your stamina and make the trek more enjoyable. A positive attitude, self-confidence, and determination are also necessary for the trek. Befor your book Annapurna circuit trek with Tilicho Lake, participants with pre-existing medical conditions such as heart, lung, and blood disease should consult their doctor and inform us. Participants must also be in good health and have a normal level of physical fitness to join this trek.

The route is dominated by high hills and mountainous landscape of which most of the parts are still inaccessible. The highest altitude in this trek is the Thorong La which sits at 5,416 m/17,768 ft. Manang (3540 m) is a village which caters well for trekkers while offering magnificent views of Gangapurna and Annapurna III. Kagbeni is an ancient village located in the valley of the Kali Gandaki River and is the gateway to Upper Mustang. The Kali Gandaki is the world's deepest gorge.

Day 1

Arrival in Kathmandu(1400m. /4593ft.)

We will pick you up at Kathmandu TIA and then transfer you to your hotel by private transportation. A briefing session and team meeting at the evening. Your guide will check the equipment and clothing. You can do last-minute shopping, or if you have time, spend time around the local spicy market in the evening. To have some extra time and prepration, it would be ideal to arrive in kathmandu during the day or earlier in the morning.

Day 2

Trek Preparation Day, Optional for Kathmandu City Tour

Today is a free day in Kathmandu and also allows time for final trek preparation. For those that are interested in sightseeing, an optional guided city tour is available. Kathmandu’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupatinath, the iconic Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), and the ancient Buddhist stupa of Boudhanath and the historic Kathmandu Durbar Square to soak in the city’s rich cultural and architectural heritage. In the evening, pre-preparation and meeting of the Trek.

Day 3

Drive from Kathmandu to Dharapani ( 1,960m / 6,430 ft. ) via Besisahar (760 m/ 2492 ft), Distance: 180km / 111 miles, about drive 9 hrs drive.

Today, we leave early from Kathmandu. We will either have a packed breakfast or we will stop for breakfast on the way. It takes about 9-10-hour drive toward Dharapani. The first stop is Besisahar, and then we carry on through winding mountain roads. Some parts of the drive can be bumpy, but the views of hills, rivers, waterfall and local villages are amazing en-route. Overnight in Dharapani.

Day 4

Trek from Dharapani to Chame ( 2,675m / 8,776 ft ), Distance: 18km / 11 miles, about 6-7 hrs walk.

Today we follow the scenic walk through a forest trail surrounded by tall pine, oak, and fir trees to Chame. It is a district headquarter of Manang district. We will be surrounded by the green forest around us, and over us we'll see remarkable views of Lamjung Himal, Annapurna II, and Annapurna IV (7,525m). We'll also stop by the en-entoute tea house for lunch a short tea break before reaching Chame. As we follow the trail through the foothills, we eventually arrive at Chame for a well-earned rest.

Day 5

Trek from Chame to Upper Pisang (3300m. /10824ft.), Distance: 15km / 9 miles and about 6 hrs walk.

After breakfast we trek to Pisang. We walk through a steep and narrow valley to have our first view of Paungda Danda rock face, a curved rock face rising 1500m above the Marshyangdi River. From here, we also see clear views of Annapurna II at the south and Pisang Peak at the northeast. As we proceed further, we descend into the Manang Valley and reach Pisang. Overnight in Upper Pisang.

Day 6

Trek to Manang (3540m./ 11612ft.) via Nawal, Distance: 19km / 11 miles , about 6-7 hrs walk.

After breakfast, we start our day following the upper trail through upper pisang. Heads north from the village of Ghyaru to Geru with outstanding views of north face Annapurna II, III, IV, Gangapurna, Tilicho and Pisang Peak. As we ascended up, we will feel the air turn cold, dry and harsher. The trail goes through Tibetan settlement Mungji and continue beyond Branga. We get a chance to explore Buddhist culture in a short visit to Barge Monastery, largest in Manang. From here, Manang village is just within walking distance. Overnight at guesthouse in Manang.

Day 7

Rest / Acclimatization Day in Manang. Exploration around 3 km around, 3-4 hrs walk.

Today is the day for acclimatization after hiking at high altitudes for the past few days, we must allow our bodies to adjust before moving forward. But we spend this day exploring Manang. Early morning we hike up to Gangapurna Lake and Base Camp spend the day admiring Annapurna III, Tilicho, Pisang and Chulu Peaks, roam around Manang Village and Monasteries. Afternoon we may visit the Himalayan Rescue Association in Vraga village where we will be briefed about acute Mountain Sickness., its symptoms and preventions. Overnight at Lodge in Manang.

Day 8

Trek from Manang to Siri Kharka (4060m./ 13320ft.), Distance: 12km / 7 miles, about 4 - 5 hrs walk.

We trek to Sirikharkha through the upper route, which follows a path down down to a river. We cross the river and walk through coniferous forests, after 3 hours of walk, we arrive Khangsar village. From there, we hike uphill to Shree Kharka, passing an old monastery along the way. We enjoy with a spectacular view of Gungang Himal and Mt. Chulu.

Day 9

Trek from Siri Kharka to Tilicho Base Camp (4150m. /13612ft.), Distance: 8km / 4 miles, about 5-6 hrs walk.

Today our journey to Tilicho Base Camp is mostly straightforward, but some parts of the trail is challenging. The trail will lead you towards narrow, landslide-prone areas before arriving at Tilicho Base Camp. As we are passing the difficult areas, it is essential to stay alert of the loose stones and gravel in the location. Depending on the time of the year and the weather, snow may cover the area entirely, adding to the beauty of the trek. Stay Overnight in comfortable mountain lodge.

Day 10

Visit Tilicho Lake (4,920m / 16,141 ft) then back to Siri Kharka (4060m./ 13320ft.),Distance: 12km / 7 miles, 7-8 hrs walk.

We will start early in the morning and climb steadily along the mountain ridge. On the way, we will pass grazing yaks and deer. As we get closer, the stunning view of Tilicho Lake appears, with the majestic north face of Tilicho Peak in the background. This lake, also known as the Great Ice Lake, is very pious for Hindus and is even mentioned in the Ramayana which lies at the foot of the north face of tilicho peak. After spending some time here we take the same route back to Shree Kharka for an overnight stay.

Day 11

Trek from Siri kharka to Yak kharka (4060m./13320ft.), Distance: 9km / 5 miles, about 4 - 5 hrs walk.

We descend to the uninhabited Khangsar village ,pass Tare gumba,a thousand year old monastery then follow a rock wall out of Khangsar to descend a bridge in the Thorong Khola valley. We go across a river ,hike up to a plateau to reach Yakkharka . We can see Annapurna mountains range, other peaks, blue sheep (bharal) and if you are lucky you might spot a snow leopard. Overnight in guesthouse.

Day 12

Trek from Yak Kharka to Thorong Phedi (4525m./14842ft.), Distance: 9km / 5 miles, about 4 - 5 hrs walk.

After breakfast we trek to Thorang Phendi. We walk uphill to with an amazing view of mountains and landscapes. On our way we get the best views of Mt. Gundang, Mt. Syagang, Thorung Peak and Mt. Phendi is located at the lap of Thorong La, it is the last village before we cross the pass. We will rest today and prepare to cross one of the most challenging passes the following day. Day 13

Trek to Muktinath (3710m./12172ft.) via Thorong La Pass (5416m./17769ft.), Distance: 17km / 10 miles, about 9 hrs walk.

Today's the most challenging part of the trip and the highest point of the trek. We have to wake up early morning at 3-4 am to complete this challenge. Pushing ourselves against high altitude and cold air into the think air, reach the top of the pass. Our challenging walk is paid off with a breathtaking mountain panorama. The trail descends further to Muktinath temple, a sacred place for both Hindus and Buddhist. The Buddhists call it Chumig Gyatsa, which in Tibetan means "Hundred Waters". We stay overnight at guesthouse.

Day 14

Drive from Muktinath to Tatopani (1190m./3904ft.), Distance: 75 km 3-4 hrs drive.

We visit Muktinath temple before continuing our journey to Tatopani. We will initially pass through the dry countryside as we travel from Muktinath towards the stunning Kali Gandaki valley. Along the way, we will enjoy the spectacular scenery of Nilgiri & Dhaulagiri and towns with distinctive Tibetan architecture like Khingar and Jharkot. Likewise, before arriving at Marpha, we'll keep walking past apple orchards. Finally, we will reach Tatopani, wandering through a settlement of Marpha, Kokhethanti, and Ghasa.Tatopani is famous for natural hot spring; it is place where we can soak in the hot springs. Overnight at guesthouse or tea house.

Day 15

Trek from Tatopani to Ghorepani (2874m./ 9429ft.) 7-8 hours

We ascend to Ghorepani through villages of Sikha and Chitre, the villages of ethnic thakali people. We go through a terraced farmland with mountains all around then pass lush forests filled with rhododendron, birch, magnolia we stop at Ghorepani, a beautiful village located at a ridge top. Overnight in Ghorepani.

Day 16

Explore Poonhill (3210m./10531ft.) Sunrise and hike to Banthanti and Drive to Pokhara (800m./2625ft.) 7 hrs

Early morning we ascend to poonHill (3,210m), approximately 45 minutes to view sunrise over the snow-capped mountains. After visiting Poonhill, we will trek back to Ghorpenai for breakfast and then descend to Ulleri/Banthati and drive to reach Pokhara city.

Day 17

Drive back to Kathmandu by Tourist bus (1400m./4593ft.), 6-7 hrs

After completing your trek, you’ll take the tourist bus for the scenic drive back to Kathmandu. The route retraces the winding roads through hills, riverside villages, and terraced fields, gradually descending to the bustling capital. It’s a long but beautiful journey, offering one last look at rural Nepal before returning to city life. Once in Kathmandu, check into your hotel free around for shopping.

Best Time for Trekking to Annapurna Circuit Trek with Tilicho Lake

Autumn season is considered as the best season for trekking in Annapurna Circuit and Tilicho Lake Trek. The weather could be unpredictable at the higher altitudes but, every season has its own beauty and uniqueness.

Spring Season - March, April and May
The weather is spring seson is warmer and the forest blossoms with flowers and you can see green trees on the track. Springtime starts from the month of March and ends in May. The trekking trail will probably be crowded with a lot of trekkers at this time of the year but tt is the best time to enjoy the beautiful mountain views and landscapes.

Summer Season - June, July and August
Summer season is different in Nepal as it rains a lot and also called monsoon season. Pokhara, the starting point to Annapurna Circuit Trek with Tilicho Lake Trek, witnesses the most rainfall in the country. You just have to be prepared and plan your trek according to the season you are trekking. The hilly regions are moist and wet at this time of the year so the trekking routes are likely to get muddy and slippery.

Since it rains a lot, there is less crowded dust when its not raining and trail are pretty slippery. We will get the best view of the green landscape. The weather is quite harsh as it is sunny in the daytime and can rain anytime. 

Autumn Season - September, October and November
Autumn season is the best season to trek anywhere in Nepal including Annapurna Circuit Trekking Combine with Tilichol Lake. The weather is warm in the daytime and quite chilly in mornings and evenings. The temperature might drop below freezing point up in the higher altitudes. The best time to trek in Nepal is in the autumn season and the best month is in October and November. The trekking is busy and crowded but the view is perfect ( white mountain and blue sky)compared to summer and spring season. 

Difficulty Level of Annapurna Circuit Trekking - Moderate

Annapurna Sanctuary Trekking is not considered to be a difficult trek but its is very adventurous trekking in Annapurna Regon. This trek is considered to be a moderate trek. Like Everest Base Camp Trek it is also demanding and the beautiful trek but with a bit of patience, Annapurna SanctuaryTrekking is very enjoyable and achievable.

Annapurna Base Camp trek is also a very adventurous and exciting journey for the adventure travelers and hikers and the difficulties and the challenging will be added until we reach our destination

Physical Condition and Experience Requirements 

Annapurna Circuit Trek and Tilicho Lake Trek is a normal trekking of Annapurna region, it is possible to trek with a basic level of fitness, a good training plan prior to your Annapurna Circuit Trek will make that much more enjoyable. It doesn’t require any climbing skills. We have seen many different ages of travelers are completing this trek like old, young, overweight and underweight and they all are very much appreciated about the journey, as a non-technical trek that does not require crampons, walking poles, oxygen cylinders, ropes, and technical equipment.  But our company will be provided the warm down jackets and sleeping bags if you do not have your own. A normal ABC trek is accessible to most trekkers who have some genus of fitness level and decent drive with a lot of stamina to last two weeks on the cold weather in the mountain.
