Accommodation and Meals During the Annapurna Base Camp Trek via Poon Hill

Accommodation During the Trek

During the Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) Trek via Poon Hill, you will pass through many beautiful Gurung villages. Along the route, accommodation is provided in local teahouses and mountain lodges. Teahouses are available at every overnight stop and are the most common type of accommodation in the Annapurna region.

The rooms are simple but comfortable and usually include beds, mattresses, pillows, and warm blankets. Rooms with attached bathrooms are available in places such as Ulleri, Ghorepani, and Jhinu Danda. In most other villages, rooms are basic, and bathrooms are shared.

Wi-Fi, hot showers, and device charging facilities are available in most teahouses, but they usually cost extra. As you trek higher than Chhomrong, charging points are generally available only in the dining hall. At Annapurna Base Camp, electricity is mainly supplied by solar power, so charging facilities may be limited.

To keep trekkers warm during cold evenings, many teahouses have a central dining area heated by a traditional wood-burning stove. Accommodation standards remain fairly similar throughout the trek. The main difference in the overall trip cost usually depends on the hotel category you choose in Pokhara.

Meals During the Trek

The Annapurna Base Camp Trek via Poon Hill offers a variety of delicious and nutritious meals. Teahouses along the route serve both traditional Nepali and Continental dishes, giving you plenty of options throughout your journey.

One of the most popular meals is Dal Bhat, Nepal's traditional dish made with rice, lentil soup, vegetable curry, and pickle. It is healthy, filling, and provides the energy needed for trekking. Dal Bhat is commonly served for both lunch and dinner.

If you prefer something different, you can also enjoy pasta, noodles, fried rice, soups, momos, pancakes, pies, potatoes, and other popular trekking meals. Most teahouses can adjust meals to suit your dietary requirements. Vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options are available in many places. If you have food allergies or special dietary needs, please inform your guide in advance.

For breakfast, teahouses offer a wide range of choices, including Tibetan bread, Gurung bread, porridge, eggs, pancakes, muesli, toast, soup, and hot drinks. These meals provide a great start to your day in the mountains.

Hotels in Kathmandu and Pokhara

Hotels and meals in Kathmandu and Pokhara are not included in the trek package. However, we can arrange accommodation upon request.

Best Time for Trekking to Annapurna Base Camp Trek

Spring Season - March, April and May

The weather in the spring season is warmer, and the forest blossoms with flowers, and you can see green trees on the track. Springtime starts from the month of March and ends in May.
