Chisapani Nagarkot Hiking is a short easy hike near kathmandu that take you along the rims of the Kathmandu Valley, offering distant views of snowy mountains, and an idea of typical Nepali countryside life and ethnic culture. This hike is the best suited for those who are traveling with children, famlies, students enjoy outdoor camping but do not have enough time for longer treks into the high mountains. Those who have less time in Nepal and are willing to experience the natural beauty, this trip is designed to provide you with a unique opportunity to explore nature, local villages, and the beauty of dramatic mountain views.

Chisappani Nagarkot three days hiking start from the short drive to Sundarijal then the trail of Sundarijal climbing up the water pipes that supplies water in Kathmandu Valley. On the way, you will witness Shivapuri watershed and wildlife reserve offering rich insight into the culture, lifestyle, and tradition of the locals living there. Also, the view of mountains like Mt. Manaslu, Mt. Ganesh Himal, Mt Dorje lakpa, Mt Gaurishanker and many more will be overwhelming from the top of Shivapuri. Similarly, the trail continues to Nagarkot from Chisapani. Nagarkot is a favorite hill station in Nepal. From Nagarkot, you’ll drive back to Bhaktapur city (16.3 km: about half an hour), famous Newar village full of cultural and archaeological monuments. Spend time sightseeing, and after lunch, you will return to Kathmandu via a short drive.

Accommodation during the Chisapani Nagarkot Hiking

Chisapani Nagarkot Hiking package includes 2 nights accommodation during the hiking. We provide the best available lodges on full board (breakfast, lunch, and dinner). On the first day of our hike, we will stay in a beautiful village called Chisapani village.  This village has limited lodges and guesthouses, with basic facilities including cozy rooms with attached bathrooms, Internet Wi-Fi, comfortable beds with neat and clean bedsheets and warm blankets. The lodge’s restaurant serves authentic and delicious meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner). The next day, we will hike from Chisapani village to Nagarkot village, there are many nice and luxury hotels, lodges and guesthouses in Nagarkot village. We will provide one of the best lodges on the full board. We drive back to kathmandu from Nagarkot on third day. 

Meals and Drinking Water 

During our three days of Chisapani Nagarkot Hiking, all meals are includes (breakfast, lunch, and dinner). Meals during the hike will be mostly the authentic Nepalese dishes like rice, curry, lentil, vegetable, spicy free pickles, curd, plain chapatti and etc. Other cuisines like continental, Tibetan and Indian are also available. These meals will be served as per the menu of the lodge. Besides that, all bar bills and snacks and drinking waters are excludes on the package cost.

Drinking water can be easily found everywhere, every two to three hours you can buy pure and safe drinking water from the local teashops. Also, you can get hot water from the lodge and fill your bottle every time it gets empty. So, do carry a reusable water bottle with yourself. We request you not to buy mineral water bottles (plastic) on the way as it will help in preserving the nature of this beautiful region. Moreover, you can also carry water purifier tablets or SteriPen with you to purify the water. 

Difficulty and Physical Fitness

Chisapani Nagarkot Hiking is a short and easy hike around the Kathmandu valley. Even though, it is a short and easy trek, you are required to be in good shape and with professional guidance by our fireld crew, anyone with a reasonably fit health will be able to enjoy Chisapani Nagarkot Hiking. Previous trekking or hiking experience is not required for this trek. 

Best Season for the Chisapani Nagarkot Hiking 

Chisapani Nagarkot Hike can be done all year round, except in monsson season ( June- Auguest ). Avoid doing this hike during monsoon season, as the trail can get muddy and slippery, so it is not highly recommended for this hiking. It might be difficult to see the breathtaking himalayan vistas as well during the monsson months. Autumn (beginning of September to end of November) and spring (from mid-March to end of May) are the best season of the year for doing Chisapani Nagarkot hike. During these seasons, the weather will be warm and clear with spectacular views. If you want to avoid the rush time and crowds, then winter (December to February) will be an ideal time to go on Chisapani Nagarkot Hiking. However, because the path doesn't go very high, there aren't any major concerns involved with walking to Chisapani Nagarkot in the winter. Wintertime brings warm days and sometimes chilly evenings

Chisapani Nagarkot Hike- 3 Days Detailed Itinerary

Day 1

Drive to Sundarijal and hike to Chisapani (1 hr drive & 5 hrs hike)

After breakfast, you will be driving to Sundarijal (about 22 km and a 1-hour drive). Sundarijal is a beautiful town popularly known as a day outing destination. The trail begins from there, as you have to climb through the stone steps of Sundarijal along the Bagmati River. Take a trail in Shivapuri National Park entering the Shivapuri Watershed and wildlife reserve. Along the way, you will be visiting Mulkharka, where you can interact with the Tamang people and know about their cultures. After that, descend down the ridge through the rhododendron and oak forests; then finally, you will reach Chisapani. Witness the overwhelming sights of the Annapurna ranges, Ganesh Himal, the Gaurishankar range, and many other peaks from Chisapani. It will be an amazing experience to be surrounded by the splendid view of mountains and landscapes. Day 2

Hike from Chisapani to Nagarkot (6-7 hrs walk)

Wake up early in the morning and admire the eye-appealing sunrise view over the Himalayan panorama. After having breakfast, you will be heading to the famous vantage point Nagarkot Hills offers wonderful views of the Himalayas too. Today, the route is through Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park and forest land. It is more likely you will see some of the smaller animals such as mongoose, porcupine, jungle cat, pangolin etc. If you are lucky, of course, and you are a birdwatcher, seek out the yellow-throated marten as well as dozens of other species. You will take lunch on the way in the settlement of Chauki Bhanjyang or Jhule before pushing on to reach Nagarkot in time to watch the sunset over the Himalayas.. Nagarkot is an ideal hill station that offers awesome sunrise and sunset views.

Day 3

Hike to Changunarayan and drive back to Kathmandu (3 hrs hike & 1 hrs drive).

Today is the most highlighted part of your hike – sunrise over 8 out of the 13 Himalayan ranges! Watch as the sun rises over the mountains to leave you awestruck. The clouds may tease you as they rise and drop, revealing and hiding and revealing again the majestic Himalays. Enjoy your beautiful day having breakfast and witnessing the obstructed views. After getting a thrilling experience with the magnificent Himalayas, strike out towards Changu Narayan Temple, around 3-4 hrs (mainly downhill) away. Changu Narayan is an ancient temple, thought to be the oldest in Nepal, dedicated to Lord Vishnu. From here it is a short drive back to Kathmandu.

Trekking Plus field crews normal first aid kits on all of our tours, which is readily available for both customers and staff but we will recommend you to bring first aid kits yourself from your country because Nepalese medicine some time it does not work properly. We are constantly in communication with our field office and monitor all aspects of government and weather issues that might affect your trip. Also, we are always available 24 hours emergency contact.

Drinking water

We will get mineral and boiled water along the trekking routes which is also an additional cost. We discourage not to buy Mineral bottle water but use boiled water from the local lodges and put water purify tablets. Plastic bottles are difficult to dispose off and have become an environmental problem in mountains.

What to take

Trekking Plus offers you a Trekking maps and Company T-shirt as a complementary. Trekking Plus would suggest you to pack as lightly as possible when you are on mountain. We provide one porter between two trekkers to carry your trekking gears. You will be carried your valuable things in a day pack by your own and your other bags will be carried by the porter in a duffel bag which we provided.  Porter carries about 25 KG from 2 trekkers.
